great indian food
Very good food and the waitress was great. I had the Aloo Gobi and my wife had the butter chicken. We also had veggie samosas. Very good food at reasonable prices.
we just attended a wedding reception of a close friend at premiere banquet hall in richmond hill yesterday, and the appetizers and food were out of this world. It was catered by bombay bhel thornhill and i met the owner manjit dhanoa and i congratulated her for the great food & service. i know iam going to be a regular at her restaurant, 5*****
yum with a capital Y!
le restaurant de bombay bhel thornhill sont tres exotique. je mange beacoup des samosa et de paneer tikka.
We've been eating there for five years, and never had a meal that wasn't fabulous.
very quaint and charming setup with delicious food,i had to wait in aline up for 20 minutes but it was worth the wait
Great food!!! Had an amazing time, would definitely recommend :)
best indian food in gta
Our family have enjoyed food from Bombay Bhel ever since it first opened in the older location. The food is excellent and we have never been dissappointed for quality and service. Excellent choice and quality.
Bombay Bhel is the BEST Indian food restaurant in the GTA. Excellent service and the food is authentic Indian food...not curry in a hurry.
Bombay Bhel is the restaurant that my kids love soo much!!! Their shrimp vindaloo is top class just like how my mother used to make it in India!! My Mother came from India for a visit last week and for dinner we took her to Bombay Bhel and she loved it !!! I told her the food may not be as good like hers in India, but she said noo this is even better!! Excellent service and food!
One of the worst I ever visited. Lousy food and staff. Never again in my life.
Have tried other Indian Restaurants and none can compare. We go back as often as we can and recommend it to our friends.
The lunch menu is awesome. I didnot go there for quite a while because of the prices but now, we are all back because it fits out budget and we love the food at Bombay Bhel. Keep up the great food & service.
From, your neighouring clients.
They don't pay attention to take out customers. Probably have become too busy.
The BEST butter chicken around! It melts in your mouth. This is where our entire office staff goes when we have something to celebrate. Thanks.
Pretty good service, I wouldn't say the best but, I can handle it. I am from Guyana, and I think you should cater at Caribana, everyone would love it!!
Iloved every bite of my lamb vindloo. We use to go to the Host but not any more. The food here was very tasty. My brother had butter chicken and my boyfreind had matar paner. We wiped our pots. Good to have
just moved here from ottawa 2 months ago and a friend brought me here...the best indian food i had since immigrating from india..butter chicken melts in your mouth and the feast we had with the bombay rani platter..i will be back...dan oberoi
O, One of the Best yaar. Balle Balle finally I ate the best food coming from US. The best in North America. Please bring your food to the US.
Bombay Bhel is a terrific choice when you are craving good Indian food!!
The butter chicken is the best and so are the samosas.
Every meal there was a great eating experience!!
I enjoyed my meal & the service is great! I love Bombay Bhel
Biggest Suck !!! Worst service, ugly server, no food, staff left before the customers, staff started brooming before we finished our food. We were rushed to order our food and still they did not bring all the dishes we ordered. On top of that they fought with us saying we did not order the dish. Server told the cook to cook only two naans and no more without asking the customer in front of the customers. Never ever ever going back there also will never recommend it to our friends. There service sucked big time. They should pay there customers for coming there.
Food was simply good & tasty (yum yumee) and the resturant is clean. I like it and i hope they keep up the good work.
I truly appreciate authentic Indian food. The food at the Bombay Bhel restaurant was average. I ordered the tandoori chicken and the dal tarka. Both dishes had good potential but fell short of the full bodied flavoring that I hope for when I eat at an Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, the tandoori chicken tasted reheated.
WE HAVE BEEN DINNING AT BOMBAY BHEL THORNHILL FOR YEARS NOW. IT HAS BEEN GREAT. SERVICE WISE LIKE ALL INDUSTRY HAS IT DAYS BUT WE NEVER COMPLAIN. WE COME FOR THE FOOD AND IT IS ALWAYS AUTHENTIC AND MOUTH WATERING. THE NAANS AND LOLLYPOP CHICKEN IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. IT IS THE AMBIANCE.
awesome food, we did online order for take out, the packaging was mind blowing because we could see the food even before we ate it,we raced home and then enjoyed the butter chicken and chili paneer ummmmyyy
YOU KNOW WHAT ALL YOUR PEOPLES PROBLEM IS WHO ARE NEGATIVE TOWARDS OTHER PEOPLES RESTAURANT YOUR JUST JEALOUS IF YOU CANNOT SAY ANYTHING NICE TO ANYONE DONT SAY ANYTHING YOU DONT HAVE TO BE BIG BULLIES
Establishment's Comments on this review:
WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM!!!!!!!!!!!WE STRIVE FOR THE BEST FOR OUR CUSTOMERS AND DO NOT RESORT TO NEGATIVE SLURS .JUST BECOZ THE ECONOMY IS SLOW DO NOT START PULLING PUNCHES BELOW THE BELT.BE GRACIOUS AND THINK POSITIVE...BIG BROTHER
Food was very tasty. My kids enjoy the food and like the mango lasi too much. Good luck and hope you will do same always.
very bad service. The waitress didn't understand what we were ordering.actually she doesn't know the food in the menu. i noticed the name in the bill it was HONEY. Sharron
very good food and service. i like the reshmi tikka.
oops dont want go there anymore
i luv your online takeout and packaging, awesome compliments the great food you served for the last 10 yrs my family has been dining there.....kuddos
The food is always great at this location.
How is possible that the food keeps on getting better and better?
One of the nicest place in Thornhill to have a meal. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant. The food is always worth the visit.
Something not right. I don't see the owner of the Restaurant any more and have never missed seeing her for so many years. The quality of food has gone down tremendously. The food does not taste the same any more. The ambience is not the same. I have been told by the staff that Manjit has sold her business and has moved on. It does show that the magic touch is missing.
Quick review of my visit to Bombay Bhel last night which was Sat March 12. Arrived at 730 and restaurant was almost at full capacity. We had to wait a couple of minutes for a table of 4 to clear up for us, which is totally fine because the waiter told us it would take that long. Ordered the meat samosa's (VERY GOOD) and the vegetarian samosa's (GOOD) for appetizers along with some mango lassi's (YUMMY). For meals we ordered the chicken tikka masala (GOOD), lamb vindaloo (VERY GOOD), dal tarka (AVERAGE), and butter chicken (VERY GOOD) all with naan. For desert the waiter suggested we try the gulab jaman (VERY GOOD). All in all, the service was good, could have been better but understandable because they were almost at full capacity. I would say the food is definitely above average compared to most indian restaurant that I have been to.
The first time I went to this resturant was for lunch & it was ok. I then placed an order for take out & the portions were small, food not spicy enough eventhough i specifically asked for the food to be very spicy. I got food poisoning from this take out but thought it was a one off thing. I went there last night for dinner with my family and ordered chicken tikka, pakoras, chana masala & fish masala with naan. Food again was just ok but once again myself and both my family members including my best friend got food poisoning. I will never ever go to this resturant again. The service was slow but i thought the food might make up for it but NO. They are not cheap either and the food is nothing compared to Little India in downtown Toronto. Food is not even as good as Kama or some of the resturants in India Bazaar. Horrible experience, I don't usually write reviews but this experience just asked for it!!
The butter chicken and their naans are mouthwatering. Do check the lassi & shakes. Overall, the food and atmosphere is pleasant. Great service and been going to this location for years.
As I was thinking and read a comment from another customer, No wonder the food and Service sucks.......typical DESI......... Manjit has Sold her business.I have been Bombay Bhel customer for very long period and have known Manjit for very long time. She doesn't seem to be at the restaurant any more and you can see the difference in quality of service. I was at the restaurant in January and then in March again, the service sucks. The food quality had deteriorated. Ask about Manjit and there is hush hush. Sshhhhhh, Seems like there is change in complete management or something is fishy. Not recommending this restaurant to anyone in the future.
I was there on the mothers day the place smell like washroom, the waiter was very rude. I think the business has been sold. Don't see the pervious owners there no longer. The food quality also not the same.
Brought a group of friends from out of town and we all had an amazing time. Food was really good (as my indian friends say 'swadh'), service was good.
Been coming to this location since they opened accross the street over 10 years ago. I'm never disappointed. Good Food. Good Service. Good Value. I'm pretty sure the chefs dont make my meals special, so I have no idea what all these negative comments are about... every single time I have not been disappointed. One thing that could be improved on is that they close between 3-5 during weekdays.
First class! #1!
Extremely poor service. Waiters not sure of the food. The guy on the counter (I would assume the manager) too was busy eating his food and entertaining his personal guests. No paying attention to his customers. Will not recommend. Decor is good.
excellent food as always.......wonder what someone out there with an AGENDA with negative remarks recently. My family and friends have been coming here for more than 10 years for one of GTA's most authentic food. The owner is my good friend Dr.D and I spoke to him last week and he and his family are still very much part of this great restaurant. So shove over Mr Negative agenda and pick on someone low like youeself
Why can't people learn to accept criticism as much as they love to hear praises. I have read through all the comments of Bombay Bhel Thornhill. I too have been eating their for a few years now and must comment that the food is not the same any more. Lately, lots of people have written about poor service and I acknowledge that. COme on guys, Why would anyone have an AGENDA. As customers, it is our right to rate the services of the restaurant, even if someone has to call us Mr/Ms Negative. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS BEGINNING OF DOWNFALL.
First time at Bombay Bhel several weeks ago and I will definitely come back (actually already have been back for take-out). I have severe allergies to several foods and I have a hard time eating at a lot of ethnic restaurants. With the assistance of the waiter and manager we were able to dissect several of their dishes to ensure that I would be safe. All the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Its that added touch that makes you feel 'right at home'
The worst Bhel I ever had. Being a Mumbaikar, I thought we were in for a treat and looked forward to chaat papri and bhel puri. Is this what you call "Bhel Poori" or "Chaat". Better wake up and get the taste corrected. Poor Torontonians being fooled with so called "Bombay Bhel". Had to leave before we could try their meal. Hate being disappointed. Good luck
Very good experience overall. Friendly staff, quick service, food was good... Definitely an above average indian restaurant... If I'm back in that area and I am craving indian food I would come back without hesitation... just a small suggestion: it would help if you expanded your alcoholic drink selection...
Just a perfect experience. From the food, service, and experience.... it was just right. Not too expensive, food quality cant be beat. Whenever I come from out of town, I always make it a point to visit (which is about once a month)
very poor service ..i think have to learn something from others
Got food poisoning....sucked
Poor Service - won't be back
I have dined at Bombay Bhel for 10+ years and usually I am happy. The last two times, I received very poor service. Let me preface this review by saying I am Indian and a foodie. I eat out at least 4 times a week as my bills can attest. I know and love Indian food.
We spent $100 for 3 full courses for 3 people on Sat. August 17, 2013. We were seated but were not informed that the kitchen was closing until the waiter took our order. We gave the full order to the waiter. The staff rushed us through our dinner.
They forgot some of our drinks and brought us our desserts before our main courses. Our appetizer dishes were not cleared when the desserts arrived. The second time the desserts were brought to our table the waiter informed us that the kitchen was closing and they could not hold the desserts at the back. We had to remind them twice that one dessert was missing.
The two younger male waiters who only work on weekends only seemed interested in leaving the restaurant. The older waiter was much more curteous and always is. He brought us takeout containers that could actually hold the amount of left over food. The appetizers were delicious but the royal faluda noodles were way to hard. We were generally ignored until the waiter was waiting for us to process the credit card payment - no surprise.
Two consecutive strikes with other Indian restaurants like the Host in walking distance. I will not return. I will be calling the manager to relay my concerns today.
My advice to all diners is to make your comments known. There is no excuse for curt service or cold food in a saturated restaurant industry. Advise the staff and then take your business elsewhere if there is no action.
wow.... butter chicken melts in your mouth. Naans are hot. Beef Somasa are amazing.... love this place...
We had a large gathering at the Thornhill location of Bombay Behl. We started off with appetizers such as the beef and veg samosas, tandoori chicken, hariyali tikka, lamb and fish tikka, and jumbo prawns tandoori. Everything was served piping hot. The meat melted in your mouth and the explosive flavours lasted in our mouths long after we were done eating. The chef surprised us with a couple of east meets west items…brie pakoras and coconut calamari. We couldn’t get enough of them. What a creative and delicious fusion of flavours. For dinner we had baingan bhurtha, malai kofta and palak paneer with fresh garlic naans. Everything tasted fresh and savoury. Not to mention the countless glasses of mouth-watering mango lassi that we consumed.
Impeccable service! The staff was friendly and took great care of the guests. The host was hands on throughout the night and ensured everything ran smoothly. The out of town guests are still raving about the food and can’t wait to dine at Bombay Bhel again during their next visit. I highly recommend Bombay Bhel Thornhill if you want delicious Indian food.
